History

The Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra (S.C.S.O) is a non-profit organisation and was the first orchestra on the Sunshine Coast formed in 1972 by Olive Frame. The orchestra, now performing its 35th concert season, is committed to bringing light classical music to the people of the Sunshine Coast.

It's Your Orchestra - a vital enthusiastic group of 40 musicians (and growing) whose backgrounds range from professional, semi-professional and highly skilled adult amateur musicians drawn from the community of the Sunshine Coast area.

The S.C.S.O presents a concert season each year, between March and December, which consists of 8 concerts performed in venues from Caloundra to Noosa. As well as promoting it's own high quality concerts the orchestra puts on concerts for charities and is involved in community events. See concert schedule for a list of concerts for the remainder of this year.

Our aim is to be the best community orchestra in Queensland, in terms of interesting and demanding programing, high level of musical quality, community involvement and accessibility to the people of the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

We love playing popular classical music and because of the generosity of our sponsors we are able to keep our prices affordable so that our concerts are accessible to all coast residents.
